The Giant Hairy Problem You’ll Be Solving

We currently have over a million monthly website visitors and over 500,000 email subscribers. We’re just getting started.

When we release a new piece of content, the internet should bend in our direction. There should be a surround-sound effect so our target audiences can’t help but stumble into the content that we’ve released. And the quality should be so good that our loyal readers naturally spread it for us. There shouldn’t be a single person in our target market that hasn’t heard of us, been to our site, and signed up for our email list.

This is your giant hairy problem.

You’ll contribute to the strategy, build the systems, and execute the campaigns to keep our organic leads growing every month. You'll own the KPIs related to the organic search funnel:

Number of pages indexed
Keyword Rankings
Search Traffic Generated
This role is equal parts strategy and execution. It’s up to you to figure out to hit your goals. And it’s also up to you to follow through on your plan to make sure all of your projects ship on time.

You’ll Learn More In 3 Months Than You Did All Of Last Year

You'll see how the entire business works and it'll be your ideas that help us make it even more effective. You'll learn exactly how to build a world-class growth machine.

We reach this depth of understanding by operating at an incredibly high tempo. Our iteration and feedback loops happen at a blistering pace. Testing combined with an intense tempo means you’ll learn faster than any of your peers.

You’ll work on projects like:

Driving month-over-month growth of organic lead counts at IWT.
Implementing the strategy for our organic channels.
Determining the direction and scoping all of our organic campaigns like our Ultimate Guides, mini-courses, contests, and quizzes.
Working across multiple teams to make sure all organic projects ship on time and deliver the results you need to hit your lead quota.
Reporting on campaign results, lead goals, and traffic patterns.
Optimizing our content and websites for search engines.
Brainstorming tactics to convert more of our traffic to leads that our designers and engineers can use for A/B tests.
What We're Looking For:

A deep understanding of inbound lead funnels.
Owning a lead quota. Even if things go sideways, you always get lead counts back on track and hit your monthly goal. You always have the next steps ready for how you can close the gap.
Experience growing organic traffic for large sites (1+ million monthly visitors). You should be on the cutting-edge of SEO to guide our team on what it takes to keep growing organic traffic.
Creativity and iteration with every campaign, always looking for new and better ways to improve our work.
Managing up and managing laterally. You’ll need to get approvals so you have the resources for your organic campaigns. You’ll also need to work across multiple teams and with your peers to get your projects completed.
An eye for building a scalable and sustainable inbound lead engine. We are not looking for campaign spikes that drive thousands of leads and then disappear the following month. We expect to turn all of our wins into repeatable systems that we can use every single month to grow lead counts.
The ability to reverse-engineer a successful campaign. Some campaigns work, many don’t. There’s usually multiple elements that have to sync up perfectly to get consistent results from that type of campaign. And when something does exceed expectations, you’ll break it down and repeat that performance through the rest of the year. You know how to experiment with new ideas, methodically test different hypotheses to find the best levers, and then build systems to push those levers consistently.
